Zimbabwe platinum output up 12th December 2006
Zimbabwe has announced that its platinum mining production has increased by seven per cent during the first nine months of 2006.
The country's Chamber of Mines has revealed that platinum output has continued its steady growth, as Zimbabwe continues to see investment into its mining industry.
Output of 2,265 kg of platinum were produced between January and September this year, which was nine per cent up on figures for the same period in 2004.
The increase comes despite recent complaints from Zimbabwe's Chamber of Mines President, Jack Murehwa, who has claimed that the country's mining industry is being hampered by the exchange rate policy.
However, Zimbabwe has benefited in the past year from increased investment as the country's Ngezi and Mimosa mines have seen production levels grow.
