Western European car market gets into gear 12th April 2006
The number of new cars in western Europe is continuing to rise, according to the latest figures from the industry.
New details from the German automotive organisation VDA reveal that total car registrations of new vehicles grew by 4.3 per cent in March.
Preliminary data cited by Reuters was used to generate the numbers, which suggest that there is scope for positive sentiments within the car market.
In total more than 1.72 million vehicles were registered during the month, although analysts said there were additional selling days in the month comparison to previous years.
Nevertheless, with a 3.4 per cent hike in registrations in the last quarter, the medium-term growth also appears encouraging.
Italy and Spain were among the biggest drivers of the growth, as the two markets benefited from improved consumer confidence.
