Wesizwe boosts platinum resources 7th September 2007

Wesizwe Platinum has announced that it has increased its attributable platinum resources.

The company stated that its attributable resources had grown by a fifth during the first half of this year, to 8.95 million ounces of platinum group metals (pgms).

Wesizwe has not yet begun mining at its Pilanesberg project, but total mineral resource at the site grew by 10.7 per cent during the first half of 2007 to 13.47 million ounces, the company revealed.

According to Reuters, Wesizwe also announced that it is currently in the process of acquiring Africa Wide, which will result in the black-owned platinum firm obtaining a 26 per cent stake in the Western Bushveld Joint Venture, alongside Anglo Platinum and the Canadian Platinum Group Metals.

Wesizwe anticipates the Pilanesberg operation to deliver in the region of 260,000 oz of pgms per year.
