A new platinum proof coin is set to go on sale in the US this month, it has been confirmed.

The US Mint will invite collectors to buy the one-ounce American Eagle coin on its official website from next Thursday (12th August) at 12:00 Eastern Daily Time.

Although no price has yet been determined for the coin, NumisMaster.com speculates that it will have a "roughly 30 per cent mark-up" from the current platinum price.

The coin, which has been dubbed 'Establish Justice', is the second in the Preamble Series of the Constitution collection, following last year's 'Form a More Perfect Union' offering.

A recurring theme on the coins, which are being sold in a six-year series, is the Statue of Liberty on the obverse, while the reserve design changes from year to year.

Anyone interested in purchasing the latest platinum coin can order online or by phone and should visit usmint.com for more information.

The official American Platinum Eagle coin was first released in 1997 and is available in 1/10, 1/4, 1/2 and one-ounce varieties, consisting of .9995 fine platinum.
