Toyota sees Chinese boost 10th April 2007
Toyota has announced an impressive increase in sales at its Chinese operations.
The company has revealed that sales jumped 66 per cent in China during 2006, compared to the previous year, reports Reuters.
Demand was up in large part thanks to the locally-made Camry sedan, but other companies have also posted good sales increases in China over the past 12 months, with General Motors announcing a 25 per cent growth in sales.
While some of the biggest automotive markets, such as Europe and the US, continue to struggle, China is well on its way to muscling in on those sectors.
Toyota's Camry hybrid vehicle has seen huge demand over recent months, becoming the best-selling car in the US and enjoying popularity in China.
