Tiffany targets platinum market with Paris boutique 10th May 2005
World-renowned jeweller Tiffany has announced plans to open a new boutique at Galeries Lafayette in Paris that will be offering a number of platinum pieces.
The boutique on the city's famous Boulevard Haussmann will occupy approximately 46 square metres on the ground floor of Galeries Lafayette, and will feature some of the firm's signature platinum lines.
The new Tiffany store will stock jewellery collections of platinum, diamonds and gold, with Lucida - the firm's patented platinum diamond engagement ring - among those on offer.
The Paris outlet will also sell jewellery designed by Jean Schlumberger, Elsa Peretti and Paloma Picasso, amongst others.
Darren Chen, Tiffany vice president for international, said the new shop would attract a wealth of customers in "one of the most exclusive and elegant shopping venues in Paris".
"We are very enthusiastic about offering a larger audience of customers the added convenience of this location."
The move follows the announcement of recent details of expansion plans by the jeweller, with news stores also opening in San Antonio, Texas, and two more stores in California and one in Florida.
Tiffany is looking to open around three to five stores in the year and this will be the first store in the San Antonio area for the company.
The multibillion-dollar firm now has over 100 stores and boutiques in the US and international markets.
Figures show that 38 per cent of platinum is now used for jewellery.
