Tiffany sees sales boost 10th January 2007

Famous platinum jeweller Tiffany has announced a major increase in sales during the holiday period.

The company revealed strong sales over Christmas, reaching their highest levels for three years.

Worldwide same-store sales grew by seven per cent during the period, led by strong demand in the US, where retail sales increased by an impressive 12 per cent, helped largely by a 15 per cent jump in sales at its flagship Fifth Avenue store in New York.

Worldwide comparable store sales saw a seven per cent increase during the period from November 1st to December 31st, Tiffany stated.

Tiffany's Chairman and Chief Executive, Michael Kowalski, commented: "We are delighted to report such strong overall sales growth for the holiday season which exceeded our expectations. We saw healthy sales increases in many product categories."

He added that the company now expects to see full year earnings growth of as much as 11 to 12 per cent before income taxes.
