Tiffany in Japanese expansion 7th March 2006

Jewellery store Tiffany announced today it is set to open two new stores in Japan this month.

The New York company, renowned for its 95 per cent pure platinum diamonds and jewels, will open outlets in Yonago on Sunday March 12th and Mito on the following Friday.

As well as the firm's platinum collections, the two stores will offer high-class watches and other jewellery amongst its wares.

"Our two new locations provide ideal environments for a Tiffany & Co boutique," said Michael C Christ, president of the company's Japan arm.

"Mito's residents enjoy wonderful museums and a strong cultural heritage, and we think they will appreciate Tiffany's design heritage as well.

"In Yonago, Tiffany will be located in Takashimaya's welcoming retail setting, which is perfect for showcasing Tiffany's incomparable collections."

The two new stores will bring Japan's quota of Tiffany outlets to 52, second only in number to the US.
