Sylvania 'will hit full platinum production next year' 5th April 2011
Sylvania Platinum will produce 40,000oz of platinum group metals (pgms) this financial year ending June 2011, the firm's chief executive officer Terry McConnachie has said.
Speaking to Mining Weekly, he explained that an increase in its dump operations will continue into next year, when the company will hit full production capacity of 60,000oz/y.
"The planning of growth into primary platinum and nickel production is well on its way and we are optimistic that our modular plant method and ore to metal alloy approach will revolutionise the way platinum is processed," Mr McConnachie said.
He also told the news provider that estimated production at the firm's Lannex plant for the first three months of 2011 stands at 2,300oz, a marked improvement on the 1,425oz in the third quarter of 2010, the plant's previous best performance.
Meanwhile, the chrome ore treatment plant at Mooinooi will be capable of producing 220oz/m by July.
The company, which is already listed on the Australian Stock Exchange, was admitted at the end of March to the AIM market of the London Stock Exchange.
