Suzuki selects iridium-tipped spark plugs 10th February 2005
Suzuki has unveiled a host of new models at the 2005 Chicago Auto Show, with new iridium spark plugs proving a notable addition.
The firm is currently enjoying strong US growth, with sales of Suzuki cars and SUVs up by 26 per cent in 2004 on the previous year.
Now Suzuki is preparing to showcase two special project vehicles at the Chicago Auto Show, a 2005 Grand Vitara and 2005 Forenza, and also to unveil additions to its Verona model.
Suzuki says that it wants the car to be a "formidable flagship" for the firm, drawing attention to its new features.
Chief among these tweaks and additions is the installation of iridium-tipped spark plugs, for longer-lasting and more effective performance.
The announcement follows a growing trend for the use of pgms in spark plugs, with automotive designers seeking to gain extra advantages from the technology.
Earlier this month championship racing outfit Subaru World Rally Team announced it would be using iridium spark plugs in its bid to land the prestigious 2005 World Rally Championships (WRC).
Denso is supplying the iridium spark plugs, which will be used in the Subaru Impreza.
