Stillwater resumes operations 5th September 2006

Stillwater Mining has announced that it has resumed its operations.

The mining company was forced to halt its work on Wednesday last week after a wildfire in the local area threatened the safety of workers.

Although the mine itself was not hit by the wildfire, smoke made conditions unworkable and the facility was shut until Saturday.

According to officials from the company, the smoky conditions have now subsided in the area, making it safe for operations to return to normal at the mine.

The company has also insisted that the loss of production will not have any negative impact on its annual production figures and has signalled that it does not expect the outage to result in any change in its production guidance.
