Platinum is being tipped as the precious metal of choice for some of the world's stars this autumn.

Platinum Guild International says that the white metal's versatility has seen it catapulted into the fashion ensembles of celebrities across the world, with some of the biggest names in film and music donning crafted jewellery.

A roll call of celebrities including Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Lopez, Mary J. Blige, Marlee Matlin and Sarah Michelle Gellar have all been seen out and about in platinum pieces from some of the world's top jewellers.

Christina Aguilera wowed fans at the New York premier of Shark Tale with a pair of platinum and diamond drop earrings, a platinum choker and a platinum watch, all designed by Stephen Russell.

Meanwhile, Jennifer Lopez and Judy Reyes showcased their own platinum jewellery from Neil Lane's collection at the 'Noche de Ninos' gala earlier this month.

Scrubs star Ms Reyes sported a platinum and pink diamond necklace from Alan Friedman.
