SouthPlats revenue and production up 4th April 2005

Canada's Southern Platinum (SouthPlats) has released its 2004 year-end results, reporting a rise in the amount of reef tonnes mined and PGM and gold ounces produced.

According to the figures, covering each quarter up to December 31st 2004, the amount of reef tonnes mined increased from 158,003 in the first quarter to 239,761 in the fourth quarter.

In addition, the PGM and gold ounces produced in the fourth quarter reached 25,884, compared to 21,294 in the first quarter.

Mine operating costs at the firm stood at $46.1 million in 2004, compared to $12.2 million in the year before.

Figures also showed that company revenue was up to $43 million from the processing of 766,279 tonnes of ore during the year, an increase of $34.2 million compared to 2003.

Corporate, general and administration expenses at the company stood at $2.9 million, in line with the same period in 2003.
