Scotland plans flagship fuel cell scheme 17th January 2007

Scottish Enterprise has announced the launch of a new office facility that will provide a showcase for fuel cell technology.

The new office unit will be powered by a fuel cell in a development believed to be worth in the region of £2.77 million.

To be established in Fife's 'Energy Park' in Methil, the flagship development will demonstrate the practical use of fuel cell technology and it is hoped will help to fire interest in the use of fuel cells to provide clean power on a large scale.

Scottish Enterprise believes the new office unit will become a "world leader" and Scottish Enterprise Fife's Chief Executive, Joe Noble, commented: "We are confident that this project will attract international interest."

He added: "The Energy Park and this new Hydrogen Office will help ensure that Fife and Scotland are at the front of world developments to provide energy solutions for the future."
