Samsung to launch new production line 31st October 2005
The world's largest producer of LCD television screens has announced that it will be increasing its output from April next year.
Samsung Electronics has revealed that its newest production line will be open for service from April 2006, as the company looks to ensure it can keep up with the increasing demand for flat screen televisions.
The company has revealed that the new seventh generation line will be ready to deliver 45,000 substrates from April, which will be doubled to reach full-capacity of 90,000 during the second half of the year.
LCD sales have seen a sharp rise in recent months, as interest in flat-screen television has taken off across the world, while demand for PDAs and laptops has also seen some growth.
Samsung's LCD president has already predicted that sales of LCD screens will double by 2010, while a number of companies, including Sharp and LG Philips have already outlined plans to boost production.
However, analysts have warned that the LCD industry could suffer next year from overcapacity, which could result in a marked fall in prices.
