Samsung dismisses production fears 3rd November 2005
Samsung's president of LCD sales has rejected claims from analysts that continued expansion will lead to a slump in the market next year.
Some experts are warning LCD producers that their current rate of expansion could have a damaging effect by creating a glut in the market during 2006.
But Lee Sang-Wan has dismissed such fears, claiming that continued expansion is the only way to keep up with demand.
"We can't keep up with market demand right now," he explained.
"So we are not that worried that will be an excessive supply of LCDs next year."
The comments come following similarly confident predictions from Mr Lee in October, when he announced that the flat screen television market is set to reach the 100 million mark by 2010.
Demand for LCD screens has grown so much in the previous year that Samsung also revealed it is aiming to double its profits by 2010, to hit $20 billion, with sales of handsets passing the 100 million unit mark this year before increasing to over 115 million units in 2006.
