Royal Bafokeng says Rasimone strike over 27th October 2011
Royal Bafokeng Platinum (RBPlat) says strike action at its Rasimone Platinum Mine has come to an end and production will return to normal by Monday (October 31st).
It follows a two-year wage agreement between the National Union of Mineworkers and JIC Mining Services, the contractor providing mining services to the company.
Industrial action by JIC workers has been affecting platinum production across South Africa over the last week.
Eastern Platinum has also said production at its Crocodile River Mine is back to normal following the agreement.
RBPlat said the estimated loss of production due to the industrial action is projected to be 34,350 tonnes with a resulting loss of 3,920 4E platinum group metal ounces.
The firm added: "RBPlat is considering various measures to mitigate the risk of future disputes between contract miners and their employers."
