Resources rocket at Nkwe platinum project 19th May 2005

Junior explorer Nkwe Platinum has revealed its resources have dramatically increased since it acquired a platinum project in South Africa.

The Kliprivier project is located in the well-known Bushveld complex and recent drilling at the site has increase platinum in the ground by 40 per cent in the six months since it was purchased.

It is thought the property now contains around 6.5 million ounces of platinum group elements and gold.

Bushveld is the richest known region for platinum in the world and it makes up 72 per cent of global production.

Nkwe managing director, Craig Oliver, told AAP: "The acquisition of the Kliprivier prospect, and now the substantial 40 per cent resource increase, reinforces Nkwe's strategy of adding to five existing core project areas and consolidating our surface-based pgm resources."

In line with government regulations, Nkwe already has a Black Economically Empowerment partner that holds a 28 per cent stake in the company.track
