Record production at Kroondal for Aquarius 27th January 2006
Aquarius Platinum has announced the results for its fourth quarter, showing increasing production at Kroondal and positive signs for its expansion plans.
The mining firm revealed that its Kroondal operations produced a record 117,175 pgm ounces during the final three months of the year, 58,588 pgm ounces of which were attributable to Aquarius.
That production helped the company to reach an output of 94,557 pgm ounces overall during the quarter, prior to the implementation of the firm's Marikana Pool and Share Agreement 2 (P&SA2).
Its Everest mine, which began production in December, produced 7,111 pgm ounces during the month, although the mine will not hit full production until later this year.
On its expansion plans, Aquarius revealed that its Mimosa operations are on track, while the signing and implementation of its P&SA2 will help it to unlock the "future potential" of the mine.
Aquarius is aiming to hit a production level of 600,000 ounces per year and believes that the Marikana agreement will go a long way to helping it achieve that target.
