PSS group develops mobile platinum recovery plant 5th June 2003

The Particle Separation Systems (PSS) group of companies has announced that it has developed a new mobile recovery platinum plant.

Using a combination of several new technologies, including ultrafine Rota Spiral screening, a new gravity concentration method, Deswik turbo micronising milling and G Cell pneumatic flotation, an efficient recovery unit has been developed.

Tests undertaken to date suggest that a low-cost mobile modular plant capable of treating 100,000 t/m can achieve platinum group metal recoveries of up to 80 per cent of platinum-mine tailings and tailings dumps.

Particle Separation Systems Technologies says it has now received a feasibility contract to build and operate the first 100 000 t/m plant in the Limpopo Province, which is due to start up in about four months.

According to reports on Mining Weekly the plant will be supplied on a build and operate basis.
