Production boosts Aquarius figures 2nd October 2006

Aquarius Platinum has announced a major jump in production for the year.

Revealing its figures for the year to June 30th, the mining company stated that production had risen 37 per cent compared to the previous year, helping to push its net profit up to $85.6 million.

Its pgm production rose to 447,693 ounces, the firm revealed, helping its revenues jump by 92 per cent to $427 million.

Aquarius put the increases down to continued strong consumption of pgms, boosted by strong jewellery demand and the growth of low emissions technologies for use in vehicles.

The company's figures have been improved thanks to the success of the Everest mine, which was completed ahead of schedule and below budget, providing an important area of growth in production.
