Production of platinum group metals (pgms) at Platmin's Pilanesberg Platinum Mine in the three months to the end of September was 10,276 oz, the firm said in a statement.

Sales of 4E pgms for Q3 FY2011 were 13,640 oz, compared to 13,788 oz in the corresponding period in FY2010.

Of the current quarter's sales, more than 6,000 oz were dispatched in September, demonstrating the recovery from the effects of a riot at the facility in June, the miner noted.

Platmin chief executive officer Tom Dale said: "Good progress has been made with the separation of responsibilities and reporting structures for drilling, blasting and load/haul.

"However we need the full support of the workforce to achieve our objectives and intensive industrial relations efforts are underway."

Recovery of metal production since the riot has been "good" but not full, he added.

Earlier this year, Platmin announced the acquisition of an incremental 5.99 million 4E inferred resource ounces - 42.57 million tonnes at a grade of 4.38 g/t - contained within the western portion of the Sedibelo PGM Project.
