Platinum sparkplug insulator shortlisted for award 7th November 2007
US firm Federal-Mogul has been selected as a finalist at an automotive innovation awards ceremony for a ceramic sparkplug insulator used in its range of high performance platinum sparkplugs.
The firm's SureFire Ceramic Spark Plug Insulator has been shortlisted for the award at the 2008 Automobile News Premier Automotive Suppliers' Contributions to Excellence (PACE) awards.
The product uses an aluminium oxide material to deliver high electrical resistivity, which in turn results in a sparkplug of long-term dielectric durability.
Ramzi Hermiz, Senior Vice President at Federal-Mogul's Aftermarket Products and Services division, said: "Federal-Mogul is focused on developing innovative, breakthrough technology that creates value for our global automotive customers.
"Our recurring recognition in this prestigious awards program demonstrates our commitment to providing world-class technology and product leadership."
Federal-Mogul's range of spark plugs employ platinum on both the centre and ground electrodes, to improve upon existing technology by providing greater power, longer life and minimal wear.
