Platinum mining chiefs to attend Mining Indaba 25th January 2008

Key figures from the platinum mining sector will assemble with other players throughout the industry to discuss sustainable development and finance when the annual Mining Indaba expo takes place next month.

The event will be attended by stakeholders, miners, explorers, project developers and financiers and is set to take place between February 4th and 7th at the Cape Town Convention Centre, Mining Weekly reports.

An overview of the platinum and palladium sector will be provided by speakers from South Africa and overseas, while the outlook for mergers and acquisitions, raising capital and project logistics in Africa will also be discussed.

This year's event, which is called Africa Is Open For Business, will also focus on the capitalisation and development of the South African mining sector with representatives from the World Bank, the International Finance Corporation, the African Development Bank and South African Minister of Minerals and Energy, Buyelwa Sonjica, also in attendance.
