Platinum makes impact at Emmy Awards 29th August 2006
Platinum jewellery had made its mark at this year's Primetime Emmy Awards with many film stars adorning themselves in precious metals.
This was the verdict of the Platinum Guild International which this week issued a press release of exactly what platinum jewellery the stars were wearing and how much it cost them.
A total of 40 celebrities who attended this year's award ceremony were wearing platinum jewellery of some sort.
Jane Kaczmarek, an actress from the TV show Malcolm in the Middle, began proceedings with a platinum and pearl necklace, a bracelet and four bangles accompanied by matching pearl and platinum earrings – altogether valued in the region of $180,000.
The highest valued platinum wearer at the awards was E! Entertainment TV presenter Debbie Matenopoulos whose 88-carat diamond drop platinum necklace with matching earrings accompanied by a Chris Aire cocktail ring totalled $5 million in value.
Other stars decked out in platinum jewellery included Geena Davis who wore two cocktail rings and a watch valued at $3 million and Mary Lynn Rajskub, star of TV series 24, who draped herself in $25,800 worth of jewellery.
Michael Imperioli, who appears in hit show The Sopranos, flew the platinum jewellery flag for the male contingent and wore cufflinks and a matching watch valued at $55,000.
