Johnson Matthey's Alfa Aesar has launched a new 60-page handbook and catalog explaining the selection, use and care of platinum laboratory ware.

Platinum Labware has been published as a guide to help laboratories choose the correct material to match the needs placed on it and it also includes an updated review of the Spectroflux brand of alkali metal borate fusion fluxes.

Johnson Matthey's zirconia grain stabilized (ZGS) platinum is also discussed in the publication, which explains the technical benefits of this material, engineered to resist the grain growth that can lead to creep deformation and contamination failure.

A variety of proper techniques for the way in which platinum and platinum group metals, such as rhodium and iridium, are used to ensure that care is taken.

There is also guidance on what substances should be avoided around the platinum materials being used to ensure that they are kept in top condition.

Alfa Aesar offers a wide variety of Johnson Matthey platinum laboratory ware, from crucibles and special analysis dishes to micro chemical apparatus and electrodes.
