Many of Hollywood's leading ladies chose platinum jewellery for last night's (January 15th) Golden Globes ceremony in Los Angeles.

While Kate Winslet and Idris Elba took gongs for their acting performances, some of the standout pieces on the night were worn by the likes of Angelina Jolie and Natalie Portman.

Jolie chose platinum and diamond stud earrings and a platinum and 12-carat diamond ring by Lorraine Schwartz, while Portman opted for platinum and diamond drop earrings, three platinum and diamond bracelets and a pear-shaped diamond cluster ring by Harry Winston.

Reese Witherspoon hit the red carpet in a pair of platinum and European cut diamond drop earrings by Fred Leighton, as well as a pair of platinum and diamond bracelets from 1900 by the designer and a 1920s platinum and diamond bracelet.

Jessica Biel sparkled in pieces, including a platinum and round diamond opera length necklace and solitaire diamond stud earrings, by Tiffany & Co.

Madonna, who scooped the gong for Best Original Song, collected her award wearing a Neil Lane platinum and diamond cocktail ring and five platinum and diamond bracelets by the same designer.

Lorraine Schwartz was a popular option, with Emma Stone, Lea Michele, Kate Beckinsale, Sarah Hyland, Debra Messing and Julianna Marguiles all choosing the designer for their Golden Globe attire.

Jodie Foster, Jessica Alba and Clare Danes were among some the stars who dazzled in platinum pieces by Bulgari.

Harry Winston was another popular option, with Sofia Vergara and Jessica Chastain both showing off earrings, rings and bracelets by the designer.o

Van Cleef and Arpels was the choice of Zooey Deschannel, who wore a platinum estate ring from 1970 featuring pearl and diamonds.

Queen Latifah, Diane Lane, Helen Mirren and Jane Fonda also went for platinum jewellery for last night's awards ceremony, which is seen as a preview of the Academy Awards in February.
