Platinum jacket causes a stir 16th March 2007
A project designed to get women involved in the theatre certainly got plenty of attention recently - although one of the reasons may have had more to do with the fashion choice of a celebrity backer.
Actress Cathy Hilton arrived for the Women's Project event last week wearing a platinum and diamond jacket, demonstrating the amazing diversity of platinum when it comes to fashion accessories.
While most women would be content wearing platinum jewellery, Ms Hilton went one better, arriving in the garment which has the precious metal woven into it.
This is not the first item of clothing to use platinum in its design and there have even been wedding dresses with the precious metal woven into them in the past, highlighting the fact that platinum is becoming increasingly integral to the fashion world.
The one-of-a-kind jacket was created by Lazare Kaplan, reports Jewelry Weblog, and contains two pounds of platinum, together with 300 carats of diamonds.
