Platinum drugs to help change cancer drug market 1st June 2006
A new oral platinum-based drug will contribute to the changing face of the cancer drug market over the next few years, according to a research firm.
Telcyta will be used in the treatment of highly prevalent cancers such as breast, NSCLC and colorectal cancers. Satraplatin is another new drug that will contribute and will be used to tackle prostate cancer.
Research and Markets said that these were just two drugs that would revolutionise the cancer drug industry over the next five years.
"By 2010, the global cancer market is expected to generate sales in excess of $60 billion due to growth in the sales of existing innovative products and the launch of nearly 60 new products which will account for around 30 per cent of total drug launches," it said.
Research and Markets is publishing its predictions in a new chapter in the Espicom Business Intelligence report, New Drug Futures.
