Platinum dress unveiled 8th December 2005

For brides looking to be the height of fashion in 2006, one designer has come up with the ideal Christmas present – a platinum wedding dress.

Japanese designer Keiji Tagawa has created the $1.7 million wedding dress, which is embroidered with platinum, consisting of 1,250 platinum beads together with a number of semi-precious jewels including pearls and crystals.

The platinum embroidery depicts cherry blossom trees and roses and was created to be put on display at the Platinum Guild International in Tokyo.

Although this new item is just for show, its creation again highlights how fashionable platinum has become as a wedding accessory.

Platinum is an increasingly popular choice among both brides and grooms and is now one of the top choices for bridal jewellery.

Its success has been helped by the various celebrities wearing platinum jewellery and high-end jewellers such as Tiffany have seen sales of platinum items jump in recent times thanks to its prominence among famous women.
