Platinum designers rewarded 11th October 2006

The winners of this year's Platinum Collection Design Innovation Awards have been announced.

Eight designers have been chosen by an expert panel from a strong field as the winners of the prestigious awards, which will also see their winning pieces displayed at International Jewellery London.

The awards have been given a new format this year, in an effort to strike the right balance between established and new and upcoming designers.

As such, there were two levels, with the likes of Emma Taylor winning in the "established designers" section for her Smoke bangle, alongside Jig Pattni's Anger pendant, while Miranda Chapman's Crossed Wires neckpiece and Georgia Wiseman's Structural ring took prizes in the "emerging designers" section.

The other winners were Aimee Winstone, Adrian Ashley, Simon Pure and Alexa Blampied and their awards are to be presented at a ceremony in The Hempel hotel in London.

Among the judges were jewellery designer Stephen Webster, Ruth Donaldson from the Platinum Guild International, Fraser King from sponsoring company Lonmin and Johnson Matthey's Jyoti Trivedi.
