Platinum collection takes centre stage at LJW 15th June 2010
A platinum collection by Green Street retailer PureJewels was one of the highlights of the London Jewellery Week (LJW), it was suggested yesterday (14th June).
The company's new range of pieces were included in the headline 'Treasure' event, which also featured lines by emerging designers such as Joanna Dahdah, Reuters reports.
Ms Dahdah won the New Designer award for her first ever collection, which was inspired by the combination of shapes in the work of Symbolist painter Gustav Klimt.
Della Tinsley, a director of the LJW, explained that this year's event proved to be a resounding success, showcasing the best of the UK's up-and-coming talent.
"There are some extraordinary designers using all sorts of different materials and techniques, and having amazing inspiration," she told the news provider.
Top UK jeweller Stephen Webster, who provides pieces for stars such as Christina Aguilera, was also present at the Treasure launch party.
He explained that the impact of the recession has been keenly felt throughout the industry, although the top tier has not suffered as much as expected.
"It is the middle that has been squeezed hardest," he said in an interview with Reuters.
The Treasure event, which was held at Victoria House on Kingsway, featured over 80 of the most prominent contemporary designers showcasing their latest collections.
