Platinum Australia uncovers new wide zones 1st August 2007

Platinum Australia has announced that its drilling programme at its Kalahari platinum project (Kalplats) has discovered new wide zones of high grade platinum group metal (pgm) mineralisation.

According to the firm's latest drilling results, new wide zones of up to 26 metres at 3.99 grams per tonne of pgms exist at Kalplats' Sirius deposit.

The latest results from the drilling at Kalplats have identified some of the widest zones of high grade mineralisation we have seen on the project," announced John Lewins, Managing Director of Platinum Australia.

He added that there were also "positive results" from the first drilling undertaken by the company at the Vela deposit, immediately along from the Sirius deposit.

Mr Lewins concluded: "These wide intersections, which have also been recorded in the Crater Deposit and Scorpio Prospect, have potentially significant implications when considering the proposed development of open cut operation at Kalplats."
