Platinum Australia finds further wide-zones at Kalahari project 17th September 2007
Further wide zones of high-grade platinum group metals (pgms) have been found at the Kalahari Platinum (Kalplats) project, Platinum Australia has announced.
These include a further 19.45m at 4.84 grams per tonne (g/t) 3E pgm and 12.74m at 3E pgm at the Sirius Deposit, which had previously reported 26m at 3.99 g/t 3E pgm, as well as 16m at 4.58 g/t 3E pgm in hole KP 243 in the Vela Deposit.
Platinum Australia Managing Director John Lewins said: "The above results combined with previous results from Crater, Scorpio and Serpens North indicates that the wide zones of mineralisation are potentially widespread which could have significant implications when considering the proposed development of open cut operation at Kalplats."
Platinum Australia's joint venture agreement with African Rainbow Minerals Platinum will see the Australian miner earn up to 49 per cent of the Kalahari Platinum project.
Studies of the Kalahri Platinum project have established an indicated and inferred resource of 3.4 million ounces of 3E pgm.
