The World Music Awards in Los Angeles saw a number of the biggest Hollywood celebrities turning out adorned in platinum jewellery.

Carmen Electra, most famous for her role in long-running television series Baywatch, arrived on stage at the glitzy event wearing Neill Lane's platinum and diamond chandelier earrings, as well as a platinum and diamond flower ring.

Meanwhile, out on the red carpet, actress Bai Ling also appeared in platinum, showing off an Alan Friedman piece.

The oval shape pendant she wore featured yellow and pink diamonds and was valued at $20,000.

Other celebrities sparkling in the precious metal included Jennifer Garner, Kate Hudson, and Jennifer Lopez.

The awards follow a similar display of "bling" at the MTV Video Awards last month, when stars from the music world such as Missy Elliot, Kanye West and Sean "Diddy" Coombs were joined by entertainment figures including host Paris Hilton in showing off their platinum wares.

Crowds welcomed the stars onto the so-called "White Carpet" at the awards, with platinum baubles by Sol Rafael and Jacob & Co. winning much attention.
