Pink opts for platinum 16th January 2006

Pop star Pink is to tie the knot with platinum, it has been revealed.

The superstar's marriage to motocross racer Carey Hart will be sealed with platinum wedding bands created by London jeweller Stephen Webster.

Mr Webster has been chosen to design and create the rings following his close association with Pink, who describes her Webster collection as her first "serious jewellery".

The couple are to have matching platinum wedding bands, although Pink's will be set with diamonds, and the words "Till Death" will be engraved on each.

Platinum is a very popular choice for high-end bridal jewellery and demand for the precious metal in stores such as Tiffany has remained strong despite its escalating price over recent months.

It was the metal of choice for the UK's first gay marriage and was also worn by Elton John when he married his gay partner David Furnish in December.

Many stars also choose platinum when out in public and the precious metal has been seen on the likes of Serena Williams and Hugh Laurie, who wore platinum, diamond, and onyx cufflinks and shirt studs at last year's Emmy Awards in the US.
