PGM recovery firm Pro-Or moves close to pgm production 22nd August 2007

Ressources Miniere Pro-Or (Pro-Or), which is involved in the recovery of platinum group metals (pgms) from scrap automotive catalysts, has announced a significant new contract that will bring it closer to the production of pgms.

The company has revealed it has signed a major agreement with a European company for the supply of feed to its pgm recovery plant at Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures, Quebec.

Under the terms of the agreement, supply of concentrate feed will be guaranteed for the first year of plant operation, Pro-Or states.

Pro-Or Vice President, Leo-Guy Morrissette, said: "We are very pleased to have reached this essential stage in the project."

He added: "With the feed supply secured, we are now heading into the initial production start-up phase, which we anticipate will last at least three months as we fine-tune the process on our way to full-scale operation."

Pro-Or reports that the agreement also provides for the development of a joint venture between the company and its European partner for larger-scale projects in the future.
