PGI links up with IGI over platinum authenticity 20th May 2005
Platinum Guild International (PGI) and the International Gemological Institute (IGI) have joined forces in a platinum authenticity scheme.
Under the agreement, PGI, which provides marketing for the global platinum jewellery industry, will publish its logo with IGI jewellery reports.
The reports accompany platinum jewellery that contains at least 900 parts per thousand (ppt) platinum and are used as a record of identity, containing a colour photograph to verify product appearance.
According to National Jeweler, the logo will appear in the top right hand corner of the photo and in the report's description field along with a description of the Plat stamp.
The report will also include a description of the jewellery such as content and weight of precious metals and gemstone information such as shape and cut.
