Several stars arriving on the red carpet at the People's Choice Awards in the US this week were wearing platinum.

There were a number of top actresses who walked down the red carpet adorned with platinum, crafted by some of the biggest jewellers in the industry.

Grey's Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo wore a platinum cuff bracelet designed by Neil Lane, while her co-star Sandra Oh chose the same designer to provide her with stunning platinum drop earrings and a wide platinum bracelet, reports Jewelry Weblog.

Meanwhile, Katherine Heigl arrived in a pair of platinum drop earrings and a platinum cocktail ring created by Beaudry and Heroes actress Hayden Panettiere also used Beaudry's craftsmanship, wearing a platinum bracelet and a pair of heart-shaped platinum drop earrings.

The plethora of stars turning up in platinum jewellery demonstrates the continued success of the precious metal in the jewellery industry.
