Pan African Resources reveals pgm production plans 11th February 2010

Further details on Phoenix Platinum's feasibility study into the viability of producing pgm from chromite tailings dams near Rustenburg will be made public in the coming weeks, it has been revealed.

Jan Nelson, CEO of Phoenix Platinum's parent company Pan African Resources, said the construction site of a planned treatment plant would be announced during the course of the next two weeks.

In an interview with miningmx following the presentation of Pan African Resources' interim results for the six months to December 31st, Mr Nelson also confirmed that the company expects production to start at the facility in May or June of next year.

Meanwhile, Mr Nelson told investors that Pan African Resources is looking to increase the scope of its pgm operations through acquisition.

Specifically, the company hopes to have boosted the size the of its controlled pgm resource from 405,000 oz to 1 million ounces by August.

Pan African Resources exercised its option to purchase 100 per cent of Phoenix Platinum in May 2009.
