Palladium membrane expert honoured 13th November 2006
Yi Hua Ma, professor of Chemical Engineering at the Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), is set to be honoured by American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AICE).
As director of the WPI Center for Inorganic Membrane Studies, Professor Ma has worked on ultra-thin palladium membranes used in separating hydrogen from natural gas within a chemical reactor.
At the 2006 Annual Meeting of the AICE today (November 13th) in San Francisco presentations of Professor Ma's work in the development and use of inorganic membranes and membrane reactors will take place.
Professor Ma joined the WPI in Massachusetts in 1967, after time at the National Taiwan University and the University of Notre Dame.
During his time at WPI he established the Centre for Inorganic Membrane Studies and was head of the chemical engineering department. In 1997 he received the Nasa Space Act Award.
Other events taking place in San Francisco include discussions on the future of chemical engineering, tutorials on fuel cells and around 700 other events.
