Nissan sees Chinese H1 2009 sales up 19 per cent 22nd July 2009
Nissan has confirmed today (22nd July) that it enjoyed a 19 per cent year-on-year rise in vehicle sales in China in the first half of 2009.
The third-largest Japanese automaker revealed in a statement that it sold 322,181 units during the six-month period, according to a new reports.
Furthermore, the company's sales figures in the country for June were particularly encouraging, with a rise of 29 per cent from a year ago to 63,292 units.
Nissan also announced that its venture with Dongfeng Motor Group - the largest listed automobile group in China - has proved to be hugely successful so far this year.
Between January and June, sales increased by 41.3 per cent to 225,073 units, while there was also a 42 per cent leap in sales for June alone, to a total of 44,753 units.
The improvements can largely be attributed to new policies devised in Beijing earlier this year to stimulate demand, including scrappage schemes and targeting rural buyers.
Nissan originally marketed its vehicles under the Datsun brand before settling on its current name in the 1930s.
