New US body aiming to advance fuel cell commercialisation 29th October 2010
Two leading US advocacy organisations for the fuel cell industry have joined forces to boost commercialisation of the technology, it has been confirmed.
The US Fuel Cell Council and the National Hydrogen Association announced the creation of the Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Energy Association (FCHEA) yesterday (28th October).
Ruth Cox has been named President and Executive Director of the new body, whose membership will represent the entire supply chain for the delivery of fuel cell products.
"Bringing the two organisations together to form the Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Energy Association will give us the critical mass necessary to help shape the clean energy agenda," she said.
"Study after study has shown that fuel cells and hydrogen are essential to meeting our environmental, economic, energy and national security goals."
At present, major companies such as Coca-Cola, FedEx, Google, Walmart, eBay and Hilton have all invested in fuel cell technology in some form.
Mike Hicks, Co-chairman of the FCHEA and a fuel cell engineer at Idatech, said fuel cells are the "cleanest, most efficient and unobtrusive way to harness the power of hydrogen".
"The FCHEA will focus on supporting growth in early markets and commercialising fuel cells and hydrogen energy wherever they can add value to the 21st century's clean energy architecture," he added.
