New Canadian PGM exploration 20th October 2003

Canadian firm Platinum Group Metals Ltd (PTM) has announced that a new drill programme has begun at its Lac Des Iles project at Thunder Bay, near Ontario.

The drilling will test in the PGM-Copper-Nickel mineralisation of the Stinger Zone, which was intersected in 2002, reports Mining Weekly.

2002's explorations yielded the best results, in terms of grade-thickness and continuity, in the Lac des Iles camp seen outside of the Lac des Iles platinum-palladium mine owned by the firm North American Palladium.

This year's programme will also extend to the area along strike from the Powder Hill PGM Zone sited a few kilometres from Stinger.

PTM has control of more than 200 square kilometres of mineral rights in the vicinity of the only Canadian primary palladium mine.
