Murray delivers promising outlook for Aquarius 29th September 2005

Platinum miner Aquarius is looking to double its profits over the next one to two years and follow that up by tripling profits over the next two to three years.

That is the bullish prediction from the company's chief executive Stuart Murray, who believes that Aquarius is well placed to take advantage of its growing position in the mining industry.

According to Reuters, Mr Murray made the bold assertion while speaking at a presentation at the Denver Gold Forum.

Aquarius revealed profits earlier this year of $20.9 million after tax during the fiscal year of 2005, which represented a sharp dip in profits compared to the previous year.

However, that has not deterred Mr Murray, whose confidence appears to have been bolstered by the fact that the company has already announced a number of deals during the year to boost its production output in the future.

Earlier in September, the company unveiled a deal with fellow miner Implats to up production by 25 per cent at the jointly-owned Mimosa platinum mine in Zimbabwe.
