Munro, Sutcliffe join Lonmin Platinum board 13th August 2007
The world's number three platinum producer, Lonmin Platinum, has announced two new additions to its board.
David Munro, a mining engineer by profession, has joined the company following his work with Brian Gilbertson in the merger of BHP and Billiton, which created the world's largest resource company.
His appointment as a Non-Executive Director at Lonmin was joined by the arrival of Old Mutual Chief Executive Jim Sutcliffe, who will also take up the position of a Non-Executive Director at the platinum miner.
"We are delighted to have found two candidates with such a wealth of relevant experience and I am sure they will both make very valuable contributions to the company," said Lonmin Platinum's Chairperson, Sir John Craven.
Analysts had suggested that poor management had been to blame for a fall in production at Lonmin over the past year and the company will be hoping that the arrival of these two experienced directors will help to drive the future of Lonmin forward.
