MTI MicroFuel Cells and Trident Technology Solutions are to team up to target the military market for micro fuel cell-powered low-power devices.

The agreement will see the two firms focus on staging demonstrations of unattended ground sensor prototypes using MTI Micro's Mobion micro fuel cell with the aim of creating a long-lasting unattended ground sensor product.

The partnership will also see the companies work together to evaluate the use of the products and submissions of proposals for military programs.

Walter Pullar, Vice President of the Networks and Sensors Division at Trident, said: "The small form-factor MTI Micro's Mobion micro fuel cell, initially designed for handheld consumer devices, is an emerging high-density power supply that can further extend mission time for our unattended ground sensors.

"We are looking forward to working with MTI Micro, a leading micro fuel cell company."

Financial details of the partnership were not disclosed by Trident, which is a subsidiary of Mechanical Technology Incorporated.
