Market for fuel cells metals and chemicals worth $21.2bn by 2010 20th July 2007

The worldwide market for metals and chemicals used in batteries and fuel cells will maintain annual growth of 6.7 per cent between 2001-2010, meaning that the market will be worth $21.2 billion by the end of the decade.

The territory showing the largest growth will be the Asia Pacific region with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 9.39 per cent, according to projections from Global Industry Analysts.

Demand for metals, such as platinum, for use in fuel cells is expected to be so strong as to make it the largest segment of the chemicals and materials market, with a share of 48.79 per cent.

Meanwhile, fastest growth is forecast in the Polymers market, with a CAGR of 8.89 per cent over the decade.
