Leading jeweller opens online store 26th November 2008
A top American luxury jewellery retailer has announced that it has launched a new online store featuring its products, it was confirmed yesterday (25th November).
The Harry Winston chain is seemingly looking to open up new revenue streams and reach new customers with its creation of the 'online salon', as it is being dubbed.
Previously, the company only sold jewellery and watches at its retail outlets but now a limited range of items will be on sale to US customers on the website.
The highlight is perhaps the $135,000 'Sunflower Necklace', which is set with around 25.8 carats total weight, while the centre stone of each flower is surrounded by eight further diamonds set in platinum.
However, this is comfortably the most expensive item being sold on the site, with most of the other pieces on offer - including small earrings and pendant necklaces - retailing at closer to the $10,000 mark.
Harry Winston, the founder of the jewellery firm, once sent a 726-carat rough diamond known as the 'Jonker' through the US mail system, rather than with a secure transfer.
