Lanthanum yttria-coated iridium filaments boost leak detectors 3rd November 2006

Vacuum Instrument Corp has announced the development of a new range of leak detectors which use lanthanum yttria-coated iridium filaments to improve their longevity.

The MS-60 series of portable, dual-magnetic-sector mass spectrometer leak detectors have been designed to test the integrity of systems, containers and parts.

Vacuum Instrument has decided to utilise the lanthanum yttria-coated iridium filaments in place of tungsten because they are longer lasting, meaning that the leak detectors are more reliable and offer improved durability over previous versions.

Using helium as a tracer, the new detectors offer a simple, one-button startup, as well as three modes of vacuum operation.
